	Abstract:	The Women's Law Fund was a nonprofit organization founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1972 dedicated to eradicating gender discrimination in employment, education, government benefits, and housing. Under the direction of Jane M. Picker and Lizabeth A. Moody, the organization secured attorneys and provided funding for litigation related to women's issues. Most notably, the fund supported LaFleur, et al. v. Cleveland Board of Education, et al., a case that reached the U.S. Supreme Court in a landmark ruling concerning mandatory maternity leave for female employees. In the 1990s the fund focused on female age discrimination and discrimination faced by American women employed overseas by American companies. The Women's Law Fund disbanded in 2006. The collection consists of Women's Law Fund files related to one case of gender discrimination filed against the City of Cleveland regarding its fire department: Zamlen et al. v. City of Cleveland, et al. It includes appendices, balance sheets, brochures, cassette tapes, charts, consent decrees, contracts, correspondence, course catalogs, court documents, court opinions, court orders, depositions, dockets, exhibits, flyers, forms, handbooks, handouts, indices, journal articles, legal briefs, lists, magazines, manuals, memoranda, motions, newsletters, newspaper articles and clippings, notes, pamphlets, pleadings, printed case law, reports, statements, statistics, transcripts, trial summaries, VHS tapes, and workbooks.

	Abstract:	The Women's Law Fund (1972-2006), a non-profit organization co-founded by attorneys Jane M. Picker and Lizbeth A. Moody, both professors at Cleveland State University's Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, evolved out of divisions within Women's Equity Action League (WEAL) concerning the mission, structure, and funding of that organization. WEAL was a national organization founded in Cleveland, Ohio, and committed to combating sex discrimination and advocating for economic equality for women through education and litigation. The focus of Women's Law Fund was to fund specific sex discrimination cases and secure attorneys for litigation. In the first case supported by the fund, LaFleur, et al. v. Cleveland Board of Education, et al., the U.S Supreme Court prohibited the school board's mandatory maternity leave policy for violation of the Fourteenth Amendment's Due Process Clause. The Women's Law Fund disbanded in 2006 having reached its goals. The collection consists of administrative records, agendas, charts, correspondence, financial records, forms, grant proposals, legal records, lists, memoranda, minutes, newspaper articles, notes, promotional materials, and reports.

	Abstract:	Lana Moresky is a women's rights activist and officer of the National Organization for Women (NOW). In 1972, Moresky joined the Cleveland, Ohio NOW. By 1973 she was a member of the executive board and a state delegate, and, in 1974, Moresky became state NOW coordinator. In 1976 she was elected to a seat on the NOW national board. Moresky remained involved in NOW, particularly at the local level, throughout the 1980s, even as her political and women's rights activities increased and diversified. Her involvement included: Ohio Attorney General's Task Force on Sexism in Education, Cuyahoga County Democratic Executive Committee, Twenty-Second District Caucus chairperson, Democratic National Convention delegate, and Cleveland board member of Americans for Democratic Action. The collection includes personal files, consisting of resumes, calendars, correspondence, speeches and files re: fundraising and public relations; NOW files, consisting of local chapter files, Ohio NOW files, national NOW files, NOW ERA campaign files (hearings, press clippings and state campaign notebooks), and NOW publications; and, files pertaining to general women's issues, and events and organizations (such as abortion, day care, education, employment, International Women's Year, the Twenty-Second District Caucus, the Democratic National Conventions of 1980 and 1984). The bulk of the collection involves NOW at the local, state and national level: Cleveland NOW (women's issues subject file, publications); Heights, Cleveland-East and Hillcrest NOW files (bylaws, minutes, correspondence, financial reports); Lake-Geauga NOW files (subject file and publications re: abortion, employment, education, legislation, Phyllis Schlafly); Ohio NOW and national NOW files (administrative files, including the national conference kits, 1971-1987, and Majority Caucus files).
